Forest Green might be fighting for their Conference survival, but Rovers produced a five-star performance to shock Altrincham.

A brace from Guy Madjo and further goals from Julian Alsop, Alex Meechan and second-half substitute Scott Rendell saw the home side taste sweet success.

Altrincham started poorly and were rarely in the contest as they struggled to recover from two goals in the space of six minutes.

Striker Madjo gave Rovers the perfect start, finding the back of the next after only 12 minutes.

And it wasn't long before the home side doubled their advantage. It took six minutes to be precise.

Alsop found time and space to net and Rovers were off and running.

Altrincham's cause wasn't helped when, in the 39th minute, Warren Peyton saw red after a woeful challenge on Jonathan Hayes.

His dismissal left the visitors high and dry - but how Rovers made them pay.

The home side's last three goals came in the second half.

First Meechan fired home, making it 3-0 in the 66th minute, before Madjo grabbed his second of the game after some flowing play.

Then it was Rendell's turn to put the icing on the cake.

On as a late substitute, he beat goalkeeper Ryan Clarke with a powerful shot and Rovers were able to celebrate.

Defeat for Altrincham did not help their cause to stay in the Conference. Recent results and a bad run of form has thrust them deep into trouble.

The likes of Tamworth, Southport, Scarborough and Crawley Town might be licking their lips at the chance to alleviate their relegation worries after their rivals' crushing defeat.
