Yet for the first 20 minutes it was the visitors who dominated with Terry Skiverton missing a golden opportunity to put the visitors in front after only three minutes when from a corner he fired wide from close range.

Rovers’ first chance came after 11 minutes when Martin Foster laid the ball back to Darren Jones, whose first-time cross found Gary Owers but his header went just wide.

Rovers did take the lead just before the half hour when Alex Sykes’ cross from the right wing fell to Skiverton, who volleyed the ball into the back of his own net under pressure.

The Yeovil players’ heads dropped and Rovers looked for a second and came ever so close ten minutes later when Kayode Odejayi's flick-on from a long ball into the penalty area fell to Neil Grayson, whose volley smashed against the crossbar before being cleared.

Soon after through the second came with Steve Jenkins winning a tackle on the halfway line and sending Grayson on his way to feed Odejayi through and he beat Adam Lockwood before sending a curling shot into the left-hand corner of the net.

Yeovil were rattled and Odejayi almost ended the game as a contest right on half time when again he was played through before going round the Yeovil keeper Chris Weale, but his shot was cleared off the line by Darren Way.

Yeovil threw themselves forward in the second half with Michael McIndoe and Gavin Williams both being thwarted by saves from Steve Perrin and also with Skiverton hitting the post from close range, but resilient defending kept the visitors at bay.

However, after some huge amount of pressure they finally pulled a goal back a minute from time with Skiverton making amends for his earlier own goal by heading home from close range from Lee Johnson’s cross.

But it was only to be a consolation with Forest Green’s win keeping them above the relegation zone.
