Scott Rogers broke Burton Albion's hearts with an injury-time winner at Eton Park for Forest Green Rovers.

In an eerie repeat of the corresponding fixture last season, Forest Green surrendered a two-goal lead but still managed to return to Gloucestershire with all three points.

Burton paid dearly for some poor defending as Rovers swept into a two-goal lead in the first 12 minutes.

Loan signing Paul Moore put them in front in the fourth minute when he was left with a free header from ten yards after Burton had failed to deal with Damon Searle's free-kick.

The Burton defence did another disappearing act eight minutes later as Moore turned provider with a cross that left Martin Foster with the time and space to drill home a 15-yard shot.

Although Jon Howard had a header cleared off the line, Burton showed little spark in attack until late in the first half when Steve Perrin was tested for the first time by Aaron Webster and Sam Shilton.

The turning point in the second half came with the introduction of Burton's subs Robbie Talbot and Sam McMahon to sharpen the home attack.

Forest Green found themselves having to cope with increasingly heavy pressure and twice rode their luck when angled drives from Talbot and Shilton crashed against their crossbar.

Talbot finally threw Burton a lifeline in the 69th minute when he received an Andrew Ducros pass to steer home a 12-yard shot.

It looks as though Burton might go on to win the game when Howard headed them level from Andy Corbett's cross in the 76th minute.

But it was Rovers who provided the greater threat in the closing stages with some rapid counterattacks.

Burton keeper Matt Duke saved shots from Alex Meechan and Searle, but was left helpless in the fourth minute of stoppage time when Meechan's excellent cross left Rogers with a simple tap-in at the far post.
